Talk: Build a Coil Pot (Taller Vessels)

Purpose

Discussion for improving the coil pot article (joint reliability, build pacing, and shapes worth teaching first).

Open questions

• Should burnishing be promoted to a full step for water vessels here, or stay a note shared with the pinch pot article?
• Is one stiffening pause per 2–3 coils the right default across climates?

Proposed improvements

• Add an SVG diagram (coil rolling, scored joint with slip, blending strokes).
• Add a cooking-pot variant with notes on thermal-shock-resistant shapes (rounded base).

Decisions

• Coil building is Level 2 (depends on the Level 1 pinch pot article for drying/firing fundamentals, which are not repeated here).
