Talk: Fire a Clay Pinch Pot (First Pottery)

Purpose

Discussion for improving the pinch pot article (drying schedules, open-firing technique, and failure-rate expectations for first attempts).

Open questions

• Should the article set expectations numerically (e.g. "expect to lose 1 in 3 pots at first")?
• Is burnishing worth promoting from a troubleshooting note to a full step for water vessels?

Proposed improvements

• Add a coil-building article once basic pinch pots are reliable, then crucibles for metallurgy.
• Add firing-color guidance (what glow color corresponds to a good open firing).

Decisions

• Pottery enters the wiki at Level 1 (needs prepared clay + fire); the furnace article stays Level 1 and references grog/pots by link only, since grog is an optional alternative to sand.
